We've gathered and continue to gather wonderful Companion Parrot Advocates from around the world to write their stories and experiences. These are Advocates who are making a difference by working tirelessly in Advocacy itself, Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary and Avian Veterinarian Care. These stories, and real life experiences are here for you to read, share, learn and apply not only to your own flock, but to your own efforts inside your own companion parrot advocacy.

I hope you'll find ideas and inspiration while reading through these Advocate Articles. Remember, your thoughts and comments are important, they are integral to the success of our prime directive here; To give every parrot, every where, a happy home.

Being part of companion parrot advocacy can be as simple as sharing your stories and experiences here at FlockCall. Join in the conversation with YOUR stories!

There is no Auto Pilot for Parrots

Choosing a companion parrot for your life is a lifestyle choice, not a pet choice. There is no leaving a companion parrot in a cage in the corner while you go about doing your life. They are emotional, social companions. There is no Auto Pilot switch for a companion parrot.

Communication is the core to a Successful Companion Parrot Lifestyle™; I invite you to join in the conversation and be a part of helping every parrot, everywhere, have a happy home.

The Importance of Rescue

The numbers are overwhelming. They prove that rescue and adoption of companion parrots is a must, not a fad. This is serious and it is important. Please adopt, don't shop. There is a wonderful, loving and ready to be your companion parrot waiting at a parrot rescue. Consider it treasure hunting.

Operating a Rescue

Ever wonder about the trials, tribulation, and triumphs of running a rescue? Tara Hurlin, Director of Hurlin's Parrot Rescue, gives us an insider view of the ups and downs and down to earth truth of companion parrot rescue. Parrot Rescue is a calling, not a job, and it is not for the faint of heart. To understand rescue, the plight of parrots in need, and the people who step up to that calling is to understand why rescue and sanctuary is both so very important and yet so very misunderstood.

Parrots are not Pets

Companion Parrots are not pets, they are companions with complex communication, sentient understandings and deep running emotions. They are more complex and challenging than your local pet store would have you believe. They are a lifelong commitment, or a new addition to a rescue, at no fault of their own.

Parrots are Not Pets

There is no such thing as a pet parrot. The word pet does serious disservice to the intense and complex nature of a parrot. Parrot's are companions, and like any companion for a healthy, strong and loving relationship you will invest time, effort, compromise and thought into each day you spend together.
