Debates still start over the use of newspapers and phonebooks. I've found the debates seem to stem from old stories and old assumptions that in 2015 no longer stand as fact at all. There's good reason not to fear the use of newspapers and phonebooks in the care and foraging toy creations for your parrot.

Parrot toys and their materials are so widely varied and specialized it's easy to assume that if it's available for purchase, it must be safe. The safety of a parrot toy lies in what it's made of, and how your parrot plays. It is up to us as parents to keep an eye on all toys as they are played with and slowly destroyed. At some point, a safe toy becomes a hazard.

A parrot's cage is more than just a place for you to put them for the afternoon. It is not a container for your companion. It can be so much more than just a cage.
