The Library

We've gathered and continue to gather wonderful Companion Parrot Advocates from around the world to write their stories and experiences. These are Advocates who are making a difference by working tirelessly in Advocacy itself, Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary and Avian Veterinarian Care. These stories, and real life experiences are here for you to read, share, learn and apply not only to your own flock, but to your own efforts inside your own companion parrot advocacy.

I hope you'll find ideas and inspiration while reading through these Advocate Articles. Remember, your thoughts and comments are important, they are integral to the success of our prime directive here; To give every parrot, every where, a happy home.

Being part of companion parrot advocacy can be as simple as sharing your stories and experiences here at FlockCall. Join in the conversation with YOUR stories!

A Parrot's Promise to Us

I just don't have the time he/she deserves anymore. That is one of most frequently used reasons to relinquish a companion parrot. It is also one of the most misunderstood issues by the human in the room. It's time to take a look at your time from your parrot's point of view.

The Word "No" in Rescue

There are times in rescue and foster where a relinquishment request is actually a call for help, not relinquishment. No is the better answer followed by, why. In advocacy work and rescue it's important to start with the human in the room. Normally the truth of the issue is there plain as day. No, is a great way to say yes to a cure and keeping that flock together.

Billi, the Cockatoo's Story

Time brings changes. There is no avoiding that fact, but you can plan for some of the changes. I write about the truth of companion parrots. The depth of their love and intelligence is immeasurable. Billi and the story of change for him and his mother stand as a beautiful testament to that relationship.
