We've gathered and continue to gather wonderful Companion Parrot Advocates from around the world to write their stories and experiences. These are Advocates who are making a difference by working tirelessly in Advocacy itself, Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary and Avian Veterinarian Care. These stories, and real life experiences are here for you to read, share, learn and apply not only to your own flock, but to your own efforts inside your own companion parrot advocacy.

I hope you'll find ideas and inspiration while reading through these Advocate Articles. Remember, your thoughts and comments are important, they are integral to the success of our prime directive here; To give every parrot, every where, a happy home.

Being part of companion parrot advocacy can be as simple as sharing your stories and experiences here at FlockCall. Join in the conversation with YOUR stories!

Rocky's Mystery Past

Rocky and Valerie continue their journey, and we're lucky to be invited to join in. The best part of a rescue parrot, is the part that requires a key. Understanding a parrot with a long unknown history is like picking a lock.

Sweetie's Story of Rescue

Parrot Rescue is difficult enough without adding human prejudices to the mix. Where we find need must no longer be part of the conversation of advocacy. At all times it is the Parrot's Perspective that must take precedence. We can argue personal beliefs after we bring them in from the neglect and sorrow. And even then let's just move to the next needy companion.

Felix's Rescue

What is rescue anyway? Do only parrots IN a rescue deserve being rescued? Is finding a parrot in need in a retail setting and paying the set ransom rescue? Yes, it is. Just ask the parrot needing the help. I've written about Felix's ransom rescue from his perspective. Because rescue isn't about OUR perspective at all.

A Story of Ransom and Rescue

Each companion has their own life story. Their story is completely out of their control. It is left to the humans in the room to provide avenues of choice based living. Through choices we can provide a companion a fuller and more meaningful life. Which is what every cognitive being hopes to achieve.

Lady Greyce's Rescue Story

Personal advocacy begins with personal values and ethics that may not coincide with the latest catch phrases of parrot advocacy. A companion parrot isn't defined by the location you find them in. And their valid need is not depreciated by how they are rescued. Meet Lady Greyce, formally named Baby Grey. She and Felix have the same roots. Ransom rescue.

Ransom is Rescue

Somewhere in the myths and legends of parrot rescue a story began. This story claims that buying or ransoming a parrot from a bad store situation only supports the store and helps it to continue. This horrible little passive story claims by walking away, the store will eventually close and stop selling parrots. This story is wrong. Deadly wrong. To understand why, you have to first understand the story of business and parrots. Let's start there.
