We've gathered and continue to gather wonderful Companion Parrot Advocates from around the world to write their stories and experiences. These are Advocates who are making a difference by working tirelessly in Advocacy itself, Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary and Avian Veterinarian Care. These stories, and real life experiences are here for you to read, share, learn and apply not only to your own flock, but to your own efforts inside your own companion parrot advocacy.

I hope you'll find ideas and inspiration while reading through these Advocate Articles. Remember, your thoughts and comments are important, they are integral to the success of our prime directive here; To give every parrot, every where, a happy home.

Being part of companion parrot advocacy can be as simple as sharing your stories and experiences here at FlockCall. Join in the conversation with YOUR stories!

Dania's Journey

Who knew, a police officer who visited her rescue, would be the police officer who would find a parrot in need at the scene of a car accident. What are the odds? Deb's ripple of rescue advocacy found a companion in the middle of a highway trapped in a car. This is how powerful advocacy can be at times when it is most needed. Never doubt your ripples of advocacy.

A Helping Wing Rescue

A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue is a FlockCall Rescue Partner.

Together is Helping Wing's core drive. Jeanne and John Gilligan are two of the hardest working rescuers I've met to date, and they have created an amazing rescue operation in the hills of New Jersey. I was lucky enough to spend the day with them and their charges and their crew. Humor, hard work and a passion for what's best for the companion parrot in need is their amazing story.

What rescue really means

Words are powerful. They can steer us into the best of choices and understanding, or they can destroy a conversation and a goal. Mindfully choosing and rightfully using words not only makes our work stronger, but defines our advocacy clearly. What of the word "rescue"? Rescue has taken on a meaning these days that can muddle the real picture of companion parrot advocacy. Pam makes a simple but poignant example with the story of Cracker.

Making that difference

The real work of making a difference starts with critical thinking and ends with love. There are countless ways and means to make that difference in companion parrot advocacy.

There is Always Hope

Playing matchmaker in rescue is like putting together a very large puzzle. So many pieces have to be filtered, it takes a while to find the matching pairs. But when they are found, the picture is perfect.

Chico and Chiquita the Amazons

A Silver Linings Story; Life is Good. Relinquishment of companion parrots is never an easy thing, for the rescuers. And, at times, it is a joyous thing for the companion parrots. Meet Chico and Chiquita, a bonded pair of Amazons who revealed themselves to their rescuer.
