Yapple Popcorn

Air popped, or loose kernal yellow popcorn popped in the microwave is the best for your parrot. Prepackaged popped corn varieties contain chemicals that are not safe for your bird. It's always best to get as close to the basic foods as possible. Repackaging and processed foods have hidden ingredients or vaguely named ingredients that are hard to interpret. You can make your own applesauce very easily just by softening an apple in hot water or microwave, and mashing up!

Yapple Popcorn

Oh yes, Yapple Popcorn is real, and it's Felix's favorite.

  • Popped popcorn
  • Cashews
  • 1/2 a apple (no skin)
  • 1 cup apple sauce

Crunch up cashews to bits and chop up the apple to stir into the apple sauce. NOW it's Yappley! Stir the cashews into the yapple sauce. Now stir THAT into the popcorn.  The amount of popcorn is varied depending on your parrot's texture preferences.  Felix likes his popcorn still firm so I only throw in a handful.  You're parrot may prefer mushy or barely moist.  The trick to Yapple Popcorn is the amount of popcorn you add in.
