Fruity Stuffed Walnut Shells
This recipe requires empty half walnut shells. I just save all the shells discarded by Butters and Snickers. You can wash them, rinse well and then dry in the sun or on a cookie sheet at 200 degrees for just a few minutes. Doesn't take long.
- 2 Tablespoons of crushed pellets
- 1 Tablespoon of mashed blueberries
- 1 Teaspoon Natural apple sauce (or minced/crushed apple)
- 1 chopped stem of Lemon Thyme
Mix all three ingredients to a paste consistency. Amounts may need to be varied to achieve paste consistency, blue berries are juicier at different times of the year, and walnut shell sizes vary. This particular ratio gives a nice consistent paste.
Spoon into walnut shell halves. Serve
